David (or DMR as he is known) is an experienced digital media executive with 20 years of senior, board-level roles under his belt. He has served both on the media-owner side (as Digital Director at Future Publishing launching GamesRadar and TechRadar and MD at Immediate Media) and on the agency side (Founder of Future Plus and Managing Partner of digital consultancy Digital DNA). David was also CEO of media personalisation engine, The Filter, a British software company owned by Peter Gabriel that was used by some of the world’s biggest media brands (NBC, Sony, BT, Walmart, Warner Bros and intel). He has a strong understanding of how content and data can be used to engage people at a deeper level.
Ever since I was young, I have always been drawn to creating the best ways of communicating ideas and concepts to people around the world and engaging them. At school, when I wasn’t playing football, I spent most of my time taking pictures and designing posters for events, competitions and campaigns in 7 languages (I went to a European school). Then at university I worked for the student newspaper and became its full time editor, winning the Guardian Student Media Awards in the process. From there it was an easy step into magazines and websites, social media and apps… Even today, when data is such a key part of the comms mix, what I love the most is working with a talented team of creatives to help clients from all around the world to connect with and engage people. There’s nothing better.
